FBA Labeling Service — 13,200 Units/Hour, 99.9% Accuracy
Amazon ended its own labeling service in 2026. PrepVia handles FNSKU labeling, poly bagging, and compliance at scale. Every label is scan-verified before dispatch so your inventory reaches Amazon without rejections, commingling issues, or delays.
Amazon's FBA Labeling Requirements
Everything sellers need to know about labeling products for Fulfillment by Amazon.
FNSKU vs. UPC / Manufacturer Barcode
Every unit sent to Amazon FBA must carry either a manufacturer barcode (UPC/EAN) or an Amazon FNSKU label. The FNSKU is a unique barcode assigned to your seller account that prevents inventory commingling. When you use manufacturer barcodes, Amazon may store your units alongside identical products from other sellers, which creates risk for counterfeit complaints and negative reviews. For this reason, Amazon strongly recommends FNSKU labeling, and most professional sellers treat it as mandatory.
Label Specifications
FNSKU labels must be between 1" x 2" and 2" x 3" in size, printed at a minimum of 300 DPI resolution on matte white, non-reflective label stock. Glossy or transparent labels cause scanner failures at Amazon fulfillment centers. The barcode must include a human-readable FNSKU text line and product title underneath. Every label must be scannable from at least 6 inches away using a standard handheld barcode reader.
Placement Rules
Labels must be applied to a flat, accessible surface of the product packaging. Amazon requires a minimum clearance of 1.25 inches from any edge, seam, or corner. The label must not wrap around edges or cover product safety information. Critically, the FNSKU label must completely cover any existing manufacturer UPC or EAN barcodes to prevent the wrong barcode from being scanned during receiving.
Special Cases
Multi-packs and bundles require a "Sold as Set" label in addition to the FNSKU. Products with expiration dates must display the date in MM/DD/YYYY or MM/YYYY format on two sides of the outer packaging. Poly-bagged items need a suffocation warning label when the bag opening exceeds 5 inches. Items over 50 pounds require a "Team Lift" label, and items over 100 pounds need a "Mech Lift" label. Missing any of these labels results in receiving rejections and potential coaching violations on your account.

Amazon Ended Its Labeling Service in 2026
In 2026, Amazon officially discontinued its FBA Label Service, the program that allowed sellers to pay Amazon $0.55 per unit to apply FNSKU labels at the fulfillment center. This means every unit must now arrive at Amazon already labeled and fully compliant. Sellers who previously relied on Amazon's labeling must now handle it themselves or use a third-party Amazon prep service.
For high-volume sellers, manual labeling is not sustainable. At 500 to 1,000 units per hour by hand, a 10,000-unit shipment takes 10 to 20 hours of labor. Errors compound at scale: one mislabeled unit can trigger a commingling event that affects your entire ASIN. That is why professional FBA sellers are shifting to automated labeling services that deliver speed and accuracy simultaneously.
PrepVia's automated labeling line processes 13,200 FNSKU labels per hour with 99.9% scan-verified accuracy. Combined with our 24–48 hour prep SLA and FastLane 35H guarantee, your inventory goes from check-in to Amazon faster than any manual process can achieve.

Our FBA Labeling Services
From FNSKU labels to poly bag combos, every service is built for Amazon compliance and speed.
FNSKU Labeling
We print and apply Amazon FNSKU barcodes to every unit, covering existing manufacturer barcodes. Each label is verified with a scan-after-apply process for 99.9% accuracy.
Suffocation Warning Labels
Required for all poly-bagged products. We apply FBA-compliant suffocation warning labels in the correct language and size based on bag dimensions.
Set/Bundle Labels ("Sold as Set")
Multi-pack and bundle items need a "Sold as Set" or "Ready to Ship" label so Amazon doesn't split them. We label every bundle correctly to prevent inventory errors.
Expiration Date Labeling
Consumables, supplements, and perishable items require visible expiration date labels. We verify dates and apply labels in Amazon-compliant format to avoid rejections.
Box ID Labels
Every carton shipped to Amazon FBA needs a unique Box ID label. We generate and apply box content labels that match your shipment plan exactly.
Poly Bag + Label Combo

Common FBA Labeling Mistakes
These labeling errors cause rejections, commingling, and account warnings. PrepVia's scan-verified process prevents all of them.
Wrong Barcode Type
Mistake: Using UPC or manufacturer barcode instead of FNSKU
Amazon commingles your inventory with other sellers, leading to counterfeit complaints, listing suspensions, and negative reviews on your account.
Label Placed on Seam or Curve
Mistake: Applying label across a box seam, edge, or curved surface
Scanner cannot read the barcode. Units are rejected at the fulfillment center and your shipment is flagged for non-compliance.
Existing Barcode Not Covered
Mistake: Leaving manufacturer UPC or EAN visible alongside FNSKU
Amazon may scan the wrong barcode, sending your unit to another seller's listing or triggering a commingling event.
Poly Bag Too Thin or Unsealed
Mistake: Using poly bags under 1.5 mil thickness or leaving them open
Amazon rejects the unit at receiving. Repeated violations lead to coaching warnings and potential shipment blocks.
Missing Suffocation Warning
Mistake: Omitting the required suffocation warning on poly-bagged items
Immediate rejection at Amazon. Items are quarantined and you pay removal or disposal fees to get them back.
Missing or Incorrect Expiration Date
Mistake: No expiration label or wrong date format on consumable products
Amazon may destroy the inventory if it cannot verify the expiration date, resulting in total loss of product and FBA fees.
